Anthony D'Onofrio '61 For more than thirty years Anthony D’Onofrio taught mathematics to students in grades 7 to 12 at Seaford Junior and Senior High Schools. For twenty-nine of those years he chaired the Mathematics Department. Anthony was more than a math teacher. As Faculty Advisor to the Drama Club, he produced and directed theatre presentations for decades, and not only in the school but in the larger community as well. To honor him, the Seaford High School has named its auditorium stage The Anthony D’Onofrio Stage. He is credited with forming the Seaford Teachers’ Association, the first teachers’ union in the district. Noted for his concern, compassion and dedication, he has received the Outstanding Teacher’s Award and numerous yearbook dedications. Now retired, he remains active in his profession by conducting workshops and serving on panels relating to the latest developments in mathematics for Eastern Suffolk County BOCES. Students call on Mr. D’Onofrio for guidance and advice long after they have graduated. |
