Second Edition of 'Broadcast Announcing Worktext'
Broadcasting
Announcing Worktext, 2nd Edition, by Alan
Stephenson, David Rese and Mary
Beadle is a text book designed to prepare students for
careers in broadcasting, cable and related fields, while
giving the students a opportunity to participate in their
education by providing self tests and projects which can
be carried out individually or used as assignments by professors.
It is accompanied by a CD which contains many audio and
video samples of appropriate and inappropriate techniques
as well as tips from pros and program samples to evaluate.
Beginning with chapters on the history and development of
radio and television, the book focuses on techniques for
vocal delivery that also are appropriate in many fields
outside broadcasting. Both scripted and ad lib situations
are considered. It then investigates commercial presentation,
studio and field news reporting, interviewing, weather and
sports reporting and on-air sales. A lengthy chapter is
devoted to music and talk shows, as these are often entry
points for students. Frequent suggestions and comments from
working pros and a series of instructive cartoons enliven
the text.
